How to Add/Edit Operations in Bulk

Summary

Once you have an understanding of how operations work within The Shed App, you may be interested in using this method to save you time when adding operations and then later when you need to edit operations amounts.

Assumptions

• You have already created some operations and you want to add them to your Building Models

• You have an understanding of how operations are expected to work inside of The Shed App

Where to Start?

Let's walk through the process of adding three operations to all of our building models.

• Navigate to System > Catalogs > Building Models

• Select one building model and click on the pencil icon to edit the building model

Let's add Framing, Painting, and Roofing as operations to the building model

Export Building Models List

Now that we have one building model that has all three operations added. This will help us keep everything in order when we export the building model list into a spreadsheet

• In the Building Model list page click Export and Import

• This will open a model where you can choose to only export some data if required. Later this can be helpful but for now, just export everything

• Click Download .xls

  • This should download a spreadsheet onto your computer

What should I do with the spreadsheet?

• Open the spreadsheet on your computer and verify that there are three columns with the specified operations available

• Add an amount of each operation for each building model

  • You can create a formula to fill in the values as well. If you use a formula it is better to use a new column and then copy and paste values only into the correct operations column

  • It is important that the structure and formatting of the spreadsheet remains the same

Import the Spreadsheet that you have edited

Once you have added all of the operations that you require to your spreadsheet we can import the spreadsheet into your building models list page.

• In the Building Model list page click Export and Import

• Import the spreadsheet

• Click Verify and Apply

• Click Apply

• The Import will begin and you can view the results

• Once it the Import is complete - you can click Done

• Verify that operations have been added to each intended building model by clicking on the pencil icon for several building models
